My husband received a phone call from a law firm saying he was being served and owed something worth over a thousand dollars. They said he must pay or he would be taken to court and could face jail time. They offered a settlement of $558. My husband arranged a payment plan for four payments of $137.67. He provided them with my credit card information and the last four digits of his social security number. He just didn’t see the point in going to jail over something so trivial. They said they would email the paperwork over. When I looked at it, I saw a ton of red flags. There were multiple spelling errors throughout, for starters. Their listed website didn’t lead to anywhere. It just said, "could not find the URL." And when I searched their mailing address, it pointed to a different business. The first payment is not supposed to be due until the 27th of this month. So I already canceled my card, and am being mailed a new one. However, they still have other identifying information about my husband.
