A atomated telephone call was made claiming to be cal Edison stated the Reporting party had a dependency with Edison and if the do not call the following # 1(844) 626 – 4594 their power will be shut of in 30 mins. RP did not call # or lose an money and RP called Downey PD which assisted in reporting this scam.

We we’re contacted by a Michael from Edison. He informed us that our electricity was scheduled to be turned off at 11:30 that morning because we had not responded to two notices of non payment for our account at our 701 address. He gave me a call back number since I told him I do not have access to that information.

I gave my boss the message and she stated that there was no way this could happen because our bill was automatically deducted from our account, so we called back to inform them of this.

When we called back we gave them the account number from our other address and they verified it as being up for disconnection because of non payment, at this point we knew it was a scan so we hung up. We called Edison and reported the scam. They informed us that a rep from Edison would never xall you personally over the phone and give you that information. You are sent notices by mail. We gave them the phone number that we were calling and they said that they would report it. They also advised us to warn our clients of this scam. They knew about it and we’re trying there best to get a handle on it. They said to get the word out to our neighbors to avoid them from these scammers.

When we hung up we tried calling them one more time to see how far they would take it. This time a Jason Fargo took our call after we pressed the number for billing. He asked for the reps name that had called us. I gave it to him. He then asked for a call back number in case we get disconnected, I gave him a wrong number. I gave him the account number for the wrong address. He confirmed everything was correct and that we were having the electricity shut off unless we paid. I informed him that that was not possible since it was paid. He asked for a confirmation number do that it could be traced. I told him I did not have one beause it was automatically taken from our business account. I asked how much the balance was and he stated $*** to avoid disconnection. This time we really know that they are scam artist but they really act professional and act like they know what they are talking about. I hung up.

We try calling again to see how they set up payment processing but the number had been disconnected.

We assume that Edison contacted them.
