Type of a scam Employment
I received a request to take part on an online interview (Google Hangouts) I was told that I was a possible candidate for employment, I agreed as I’m new to the online interviews. I was skeptical from the beginning, I became a little concerned and was advised that this company was growing and there was an office being set up in my area, I also was alerted that during this chat (Google Hangouts) that some of the replies seemed to copy and pasted. Person never asked for any personal information ie banking information or routing numbers but wanted to know the name of my bank. (Just the name) and then asked for my personal information ie (full name and address) which I did provide thinking harmless. The interviewer then sent via email an offer letter and was sending me a check to purchase training materials and laptop computer. I became more concerned and did some research on online interviews awareness found on Ziprecruiter and the BBB website and found a reported scam with the same exact process that I went through. I messaged the interviewer asking to confirm physical address and physical address of the office being set up in my area and of course no response and disappeared.
