Type of a scam Fake Invoice/Supplier Bill
Saw ad for car on CraigsList, texted the number. Text back said it was her "aunt" selling the car, and I was given an email. Email said the seller had moved out of town, but was working with eBay Buy Protection to ensure the integrity of the transaction. I was asked for my address and phone number, which I gave (publicly available, so no big deal) and I was then contact by the email "[email protected]" with an invoice. Invoice instructed me to buy ebay gift cards from retail stores and email the gift card information to that address. Then I would receive the car for 7 days to test, with promise of a refund if I didn’t like it. Sounded more than fishy.
