Type of a scam Identity Theft
This is all began when I was sent an email of the job description. Something was fishy about the email because whenever I emailed it back, it said that it was not a real email address. The owner of the company then contacted me on July 2nd, offering me a position as a forwarding courier. Packages would come to my house, I check them for damage, then reship them. The business owner asked me to take a picture of myself holding my drivers license in order to “verify my address”. He presented all the materials that made this business seem legal and legit. I took the bait and I signed the contract and sent him the photo. I felt that there wouldn’t be any harm done. I gained access to the portal and from there I was sending out what seemed to be packages. However, things became when I would report i know packages, inform the owner, and he would ensure me that the labels would be made but they were never made. I would inquire several times about this, still nothing done. The packages came in very few and didn’t seem to be “real” packages. I still have a few here at my home now. I began officially working July 5th. As a part of the contract, I were to be on a one month probationary period then once that one month was over, I would receive a check of $3000 as listed in the contract. I inquired about the method of withdrawal for the payment, he instructed me on how to do so. I chose the method direct deposit as the withdrawal method. The owner, Alex Newman, ensures that I would be getting my patent by 5pm, August 5th, of 2019. Once I sent one more message through the portal, as this was the only other means of communication other than by phone, I was then “locked out” as my credentials no longer worked and my email address was no longer registered with the website. I tried numerous times to contact the owner by phone. The phone was state that the call did not go through or would just fail (not ringing at all). This man has my drivers license information, photo of what i look like, and my bank information.
