Version of the IRS scam. Caller said w/ the Dept. of legal Affairs and was calling about a letter we would have gotten. Gave a number to call 914-205-4102. When called that number a person with foreign accent answered and asked if we filed taxes. When told them no, hung up.

She said that she is trying to reach me for an important matter regarding a law enforcement matter that has been reported under my name . She said I needed to call her back and if I didn’t have time to call back to have my attorney call her. Her number is 206-414-6812 and the second number that she called from was 866-463-3714.

They have a legal matter that needs to be taken care. The is a notification of accrument action taken against me. If I call back have an attorney call for me. They will you owe this amount in taxes & need a certain amount sent the same day if not there’s a warrant out for you arrest. Once you send the money you get a tax notification card and you can make smaller amounts to pay it. The persons I talk James Clerk and Lisa Fernandez. If you get a call from 911 don’t answer otherwise trace your location. They also say they mailed you something in the mail from the IRS department.

There was a voice mail left on my cell phone, however, no missed call showed. The message was from Leslie Owens with the Dept. of Legal Affairs stating this was "a verbal notification regarding enforcement action that have been started against your name". Stated I should call her back at 718-734-1473 and if I did no call back then I should retain an attorney & have them call back for me to avoid further legal action. This person did not speak very clear English. My tax accountant told me this is a scam.

I received a phone call from a Jack Dawson on my voice mail. I didn’t answer the call because I didn’t recognize the number on Caller ID. The caller claims to be an Agent for the Dept. of Legal Affairs and is going to file a legal action if I don’t return his call. He has a heavy foreign accent. He tells me to either have my attorney contact him or myself. I didn’t return the call.

Someone called my home phone on 21-APR and left a message. They stated that they were from the "Department of Legal Affairs" and that "this was a verbal notification of exportment action being started in my name". I was advised to call them back immediately so that this "doesn’t become a hug mess". The number they gave me was: 718-758-6408.
They did not mention any dollar amounts, but the threat was clearly there.
I did not call them back, so I was not actually a victim, just a target
But I did capture the message they sent to me in an MPGE file.

We got a phone call from an ‘Annie Johnson’ from the Department of Legal Affairs, informing my husband (they said his full name) that there is a ‘Formal enforcement action that has begun against his name’ and to call as soon as possible, or have our legal attorney do it for him"
This woman has an extremely heavy accent, and is obviously reading from a script.

I called the BBB and reported this to them, and they asked me to share this online.
It’s a SCAM, do not call back this number.

I had a call from a John Edwards from Departmrnt of affairs saying legal action had been started against me he told me to call back on 347-584-4578, or get a lawyer to represent me and call him back, I had this call twice in one day and they left messages on the answer machine ! I did not call back !

A man name Shawn Andrews called my parents home looking for me, though I haven’t lived there in six years, and he claimed he was from the department of legal affairs. He left a message to have me call him at (347) 474-3215 or I was going to be in big trouble because I have not paid my taxes. My mom called Shawn Andrews back and he answered what is presumably his cell phone because there was no secretary and there was no recording. He told my mom he needed copies of my bank statements, my past tax records and my social security number because the IRS is looking for me and I am in a lot of trouble. He yelled at my mom and said if I did not call him back that he knew where I lived and so did the IRS and that they were going to come out and arrest me because I needed to pay thousands of dollars back on my back taxes.
