Type of a scam Tech Support

Claimed to be from Dell & that my computer was hacked by someone in Nigeria who was uploading pornography under my name and that I could get in trouble. He got access and showed me false reports of hacking. The phonescammer then conned me into buying $4400 worth of gift cards and to type their numbers onto what I thought was Dell website, showing the equipment I supposedly needed (anti-hacking device, expensive accessories). Supposedly, a technician was coming to install equipment and bring me a refund check for my money spent. When he tried to ask for more money I became wary and hung up and called the real Dell. Dell’s customer service told me he was a scam artist and did not work for Dell. From a genuine technician I found out there was nothing wrong with my computer at all.
