Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order
Through Craigslist. I was selling a high priced large piece of furniture. Scammer texted me regarding desire to purchase, needed my info to send a cashier’s check. I responded accordingly. Next text, he would send a cashier’s check but it would also include extra funds for movers. Sure enough check arrived not 5 min. after I received the text. Although the name is B GNAME Commerce is on the return address, the check came via UPS Next day air with Maryland postmark, and tracking had it coming from a town near my location. True to form the check was for 3 times the amount I was the selling the item for and the fake cashiers check came from Urban Partnership Bank out of Chicago, however, the bank tracking number was invalid.
