Yes, this is a scam. The house has already been sold. It is not available for rent (and never was available for rent). Do NOT contact this person – they are a scammer.

Rental Fraud. The house listed for rent per this Craigslist listing is privately owned and was recently listed for sale. The house has since sold. The Craislist listing was created from the pictures and the descriptions from the realtor websites and listings. The house was never for rent. Several individuals contacted the email address with interest to find out who this individual was, unknown to the actual homeowners. The individual played the part of a leasing agent and requested no in person meetings, and in order to rent the property to send only pre-paid gift cards and/or Zelle payments. Only upon receipt of the payments would this individual send the keys to the house. This is a scam. The individual has nothing to do with this house, and the house was never for lease. The house was owner occupied during the pendency of the Craigslist listing, and was sold to a new owner occupant. Efforts to have the Craigslist listing taken down have been unsuccessful, so this individual continues to prey upon unsuspected potential renters. This is a fraud. I have been doing fraud investigations for over 31 years.
