Type of a scam Debt Collections
Referenced a credit card that I closed years ago. Claimed they sent me a notice 46 days ago. Wanted me to pay right away to avoid going to court. Could not provide any specific information about the debt. Said that wouldn’t be available until the "discovery phase." I said that I would contact the credit card company myself. They said that I wouldn’t be able to find out anything because as far as that company was concerned I had a "clean slate." They also said that it wouldn’t show on my credit report. I had 2 hours to return the initial call to Lila at 909-498-0228 and leave a VM. When I contacted the CC they said that I had a zero balance and nothing said that a letter was sent to third party. I am currently reviewing my credit report and it says that I paid my balances on time.
