Type of a scam Fake Invoice/Supplier Bill

We are a small business just starting family owned. Company is slightly growing but not to the fullest. Finances are almost day to day first thing we get in the mail is a letter that if we dont purchase the Labor Law Poster we will be fined. Since we are just starting didn’t need a fine at the moment we could not afford. So we sent in the money order on April 20th 2018 it is now May 29th 2018 and we haven’t received anything in the mail. I look up the business name online because the notice also has no number to call customer serivce just in case and it turns out that there are scam claims on this company. It is really sad that there is heartless people that take money from others that are just starting a company to support our families and every penny we spent is towards neccessities that we need and can’t afford to spend on things not needed. Please be careful. We paid don’t know how many others have.

Received a fake looking invoice about ‘labor law compliance’ and needing to pay $84 for a fake poster to display. The invoice has lots of legal looking language, but no official logos or marks or contact points to look up the legitimacy. The return invoice and return envelope looks too generic.

Corporate Compliance Services sent a fake invoice for $84 to pay for a poster required by US Dept of Labor. CCS is not affiliated with the DOL, which actually provides the poster for free. This scam by phone and mail is duplicated in multiple states, with this sender already receiving hundreds complaints.

I received a mailer saying pay $84 or risk a $17000 fine for not having this poster displayed in the workplace. I don’t have any employees and the business ID on the mailer seems bogus. Lots of other consumers have reported this scam here.

New business owners beware! I received a notice titled "Labor Law Compliance Request Form" requesting $84.00 from me for a required labor law poster for my new LLC. I’m so happy that a relative who started his own law firm warned me that scammers may send fraudulent money requests targeting my newly formed business, and after putting the address information from this "invoice" into my Google search I got confirmation from multiple sources that this was bogus. What’s so messed up about this is that the notice LOOKS very legitimate and professional, but in fine print on the back of the notice it states that this is a "solicitation and not bill due" from a "non-government approved publisher." Almost had me fooled.

After recently incorporating a single member LLC in CA, I received a "notice" from Corporate Compliance Services in Houston, TX using scare tactics to tell me I owed a $84.00 to obtain required CA labor law posters. They attempt to scare the recipient saying you can incur $17,000 in fines if you don’t comply with posting the CA labor law posters.

We received two letters to our business address for each of our trade name companies which looked like invoices for payment to ‘Corporate Compliance Services’. The form was titled ‘Labor Law Compliance Request Form’ and seemed to include business ID information and more. The form was requesting payment by check or money order for $84.00 to provide us with a ‘compliant labor law poster’ which we are informed is required by federal law to be posted in our offices. There are typing and spelling errors in the document but on the whole it looks very authentic except for the conspicuous absence of any kind of mailing address, email address, website, or other contact information. Also the phone number provided never picks up even after multiple attempts.

Started an LLC in Maryland. Soon thereafter received a letter in March 2018 demanding $84 for a labor law poster that the federal Dept of Labor gives out free of charge. This business is illegally posing as a govt entity to threaten business owners with fines they have no right to collect. Should be shut down and penalized.

This company sends an official-looking letter advising recipient to purchase labor law posters or else violate federal law. It is $84.00. I unfortunately spoke with another business owner who had already done it and received his posters. So I trusted him and it. Turns out they cashed my check but never sent the posters. They are unreachable by mail or phone and have no website or email address listed. DO NOT purchase the posters. The federal and state labor departments will have free posters for you and a service that aids in finding out which ones you need.

I’ve received an official looking invoice for my business and was immediately concerned. The invoice stated that a labor law poster was not displayed and that I could be fined because of non-compliance. My business does not have a physical location nor does it have employees so I was confused. When I tried to call the customer service number I wasn’t able to get through for 3 days straight. The invoice had no return address nor website and when I read the back of the paper it says that "Corporate Compliance Services is a third party non-government publisher". I decided to google and found BBB where lots of other new business had the same issues. I’m glad for google and BBB! Though I may try calling again, I genuinely feel like this is a scam and BBB kept me informed.

this company finds new businesses and sends them a "labor law compliance request form" that looks very much like a government doc. They say you must post a labor poster for your new company or you’ll be fined up to $17,000. There is a "notice date" and a "respond by date" There is a "document fee" of $84.00. In VERY small print on the back of the doc it says this company is a third party and isn’t affiliated with the government at all. This labor poster is available free from the gov. The whole doc looks very real and I’m sure tons of new businesses are being scammed everyday.

Received a letter from Corporate Compliance Services. Phone # 202-729-9969.

The notice is official looks and is intended to imply they are are goverment agency concerning compliance with Labor Laws.

Topic is the official posting of current labor laws in the office.

The are trying to extract $84 for a poster.

This type of scam is outrageous and is pulling on the fear that small business would have from federal agencies that could disrupt their livelihood in order to extract $.

Shameful.

I have a small business with business licenses in a couple of municipalities. I was sent the following letter in the mail implying that I must pay $84.00 for a poster, or I would be fined by the DOL. Even if I had an employee and was required to post this information, I could receive the posters for free from the government. Also, there are several possible posters that might be required. This scammer does not give any indication which ones would be required. If they are a quasi-legal business printing these posters, they are still misrepresenting the US government and failing to provide the correct posters for a given business. Please let me know if there is a government agency that should also be informed of this scam.

I just opened a small business business and I don’t even have a month and I got this letter from Corporate Compliance Services requesting a Labor Law Compliance Form to pay $84.00 by check or Money order only or could lead to fines up to $17,000 to get the Compliant Labor Law Poster that you can actually get for free from the Department of Labor. I did not see a phisical address, no email, no website, no option to pay online, no 800 number for CS. So I looked the company up and found numerous complaints to the BBB. The "company" seems as if it’s working as part or for the Department of Labor. Please make sure you always investigate when someone is requesting money by mail only. With no specific information of the company. Thank God that for the ScamPulse.com that I was able to discover this information before I was able to send any money. At first sight you can genuinely fall for the scam.

received a letter in the mail titled "labor law compliance request form". in a nutshell it states federal law requires a business to post a current compliant labor law poster in the workplace. "pursuant to federal law 29 USC Sec. 999 (i) & 29 USC Sec. 2005 penalties and risks of non-compliance with posting regulations can lead to potential fines in excess of $17,000 per instance, for failure to post federally required information." it goes on stating to obtain your federal employment labor law poster, please detach the coupon and return it in the enclosed envelope with you processing fee of $84. you can send a check or money order along with the coupon (top third of page) and keep the bottom as an official receipt.

Notify ScamPulse.com here that THIS BUSINESS IS CLEARLY A SCAM! They mistyped my company name, and the letter itself had multiple typos. If this were a government letter, there is no way it would have included these errors. It also would have included my EIN, which it did not. The envelope this company’s "urgent warning" was sent in had no federal related markers of any kind, and had a PO BOX for its mailing. No government office I have ever worked with previously has used a PO Box. It also claimed that electronic service is requested on the envelope, and yet there was nothing in the letter that indicated anything electronic in nature. The envelope contradicts the very instructions in the letter itself. This is clearly a scam designed to scare new business owners into paying for something they can get for free at the right source. In my case, I have no employees, so I’m not obligated to have this kind of poster anyways. DO NOT BUY INTO THEM!

LABOR LAW POSTER

I received a letter mailed to my newly established business about the requirement by federal law to post a current compliant labor law poster in the workplace. They demand a processing fee of $84.00. The letter looks very official like with barcodes and code number, however without an address on the letter. I almost fall for it until a few days later I received another letter similar to this but from a different mailer asking a different amount for processing fee for similar services. I realized that these are not legit. I hope ScamPulse.com would do something to stop these scammers.

We just started a business so, of course, we’re not certain of what to expect but I thought it was real being that we just started up and upin registering I had to pay so I didn’t think twice.

The only reason I called myself was because I wanted some clarification due to the fact that we only have one employee and he’s the company owner. But when we got on the phone, I was informed of the scam. If not for that phone call, I would’ve been out of $85

I received a letter from this business claiming that I needed to post labor law posters at my place of business to be compliant by federal law. The letter looked like an invoice. It states that they will send you the posters for $84.00 when you can get them for free from the Dept of Labor in my state. It does not state anywhere that this may be a fee for convenience. It comes across as very intimidating by stating statutes and penalties due to non-compliance. It feels as if they are preying on new business owners that may not know all the rules yet.

I attempted to contact them several times the next day, as they have no website listed on the paperwork, to get my name removed from their mailing list. Each option sends you to a recorded message, even when trying to speak with a rep. There is no opt-out info on the mailing. There is a number with a Washington, DC area code but the mailing address goes back to Houston, TX.

I have shredded the document and hope that nobody gets scammed by these illegitimate businesses. I’m crossing my fingers that I don’t receive any more.

Received a letter stating federal law requires my LLC to post a current compliant labor law poster in the workplace to be viewed by employees; I have none. It also indicates the non-compliance risk can lead to potential fines in excess of $17,000 per instance for failure to post the mandatory poster.

Charging $84.00 to document process and provide poster within 7-10 business days.

I am glad I google the company’s information and confirmed this was a scam.

In late October (2015) I acquired a business license (in the state of New Mexico) as a sole proprietor for the sale of ebooks online. A month or two later we started getting calls about a landscaping business in my name. Bewildered we told all such callers that no such business exists. A few days ago the following letter arrived. The lack of any official state or national seal was the first of several things we noted about this suspicious letter stating I needed to pay some labor law compliance fee.

i am a business owner where i am the only employee. i received a letter in the mail stating i needed to pay a fee of 84 dollars or possibly face a $17000 fine from the government for not filing/posting a labor law poster at my place of business.the $84 dollar fee is supposed to be a filing fee,and cover the cost of the poster and shipping…luckily i read the reverse side of this bogus scammer;s letter that states they are merely solicitors with no affiliation to any government entity.the letter also states you can obtain a poster from the government for free. I work hard for what i have obtained, and proud to be a reputable, responsible business owner.
