Type of a scam Credit Cards
This is the third time I have been contacted by the same scam group. The first time was an email and the recent two times were text messages from different numbers. The conversation always starts out as some variation of, "Hello, I am ___. Are you a graphic designer and do you accept credit cards?" The first time I said no and they tried to convince me to sign up with some website that would allow me to accept their credit card payment. The second time they stopped responding. The third time they said, "OK I can pay with the check."
Here is the message I got from the first and second contacts:
"Thanks for the respond, how are you doing and business, I’m susan lort with Continental lort Shop. Am sending you an email in regards to order of Banners Am looking for Size 34"x60" with grommet on the banner. I want this message on the banner is ( CHURCH OF CHRIST ) with best of the best layout design. Can you handle that for me?. I would like you to go ahead and calculate the cost for 50 Qty Plus Tax excluding shipping because this would be picked up at your Location. Would these order be ready within 29 days, I need them Urgently. What merchant do your company use to charge them up from you. credit cards. Kindly send method Quote now. Hope to hear from you soon. And this is pick up order i have shipping agent that will come and picked"
When I received the email like this (several months ago) I went along at first and found out the price of printing the banners for them. But as they continued pushing for me to use a credit card application I realized something was very fishy and looked it up online. Sure enough I am not the only person they have targeted. It seems that they ask for you to send them money first, or something similar (but I can’t verify since I have ignored them). I’m just getting sick of being routinely targeted by the same group and feel bad for not reporting this sooner.
