Recieved a cashier’s check for 1825.00. The other paper in priority mail 2 day was just survey instructions. Wanted me to email them confirmation of package. Cash check at bank and then go to several different stores buying Ebay gift cards as a secret shopper. They wanted me to buy 1400.00 worth then I would make the 425.00. Then scratch off back and take pictures of front and back. Email to [email protected]

Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order

Received on 8/02/18 via priority mail a money order in the amount of $1,825.00. Remitter name – Griselda Juarez (could be a fake name). Bank name – Academy Bank. Envelope included a 1-page "Survey Evaluation Instruction" and what to do with the check. Deposit the check right away within the next 24 hrs and conduct the assignment immeidtaely. I never signed up for any survey evaluation work. The check supposedly covers cost of the initial tasks, evaluation of certain stores where I am to purchase Ebay gift cards in $50, $100 and $200 denominations from Walgreens, Target, CVS, Safeway, Best Buy, Rite Aid, Kmart, etc. My service commission for the work is $425. I was instructed after purchasing the Ebay gift cards to 1) open the pack and peel the silver scratch-off area on the card 2) Capture image of card front and back via phone cameras and 3) not to discard the cards as "it will be used for your forthcoming assignments.4) under no circumstances should i acknowledge that Im evaluating retailer’s services. 5) Give details of evaluation – customer service, did the clerk thank you for buying the gift card, overall experience with the store, etc. 6) after evaluation, email completed report to [email protected]

I knew this was a scam so I put a big "VOID" across the check and never cashed the check.

I received an email offering me to become a "secret shopper" for ebay. I gave them my address and they sent me a Cashier’s Check and otld me to deposit it and then buy Ebay gift cards and send them all the info about the numbers on the cards. The check arrived and looked fake and I did not cash it. I assume if I gave them all the info about the gift cards, they would report them as stolen and have replecemenst sent to them and I would get a notice from my back that the check was a fraud and be told that all the gift cards had been reported as stolen and someone else would get the dollar equivilent of the cards I has purchsed with "my money" I did not cash the check

July 19th I received a $1367 cashier’s check via USPS Priority Mail. The mail stating that I signed up to be a mystery shopper (I didn’t) and they’re sending me this check to cash and buy $1000 Ebay gift cards. The $367 is my fee for completing the process below.

I was to email them to tell them my experience at the store and cashier, etc. I was to take photos of the gift card front and scratch off the silver strip on the back to reveal the numbers. They even texted me two days later to see if I received their package with the check. When I called the phone number on the text it rang and rang and finally the answer machine answered as "this is your friend, leave a message. I heard of these scams before where by the time you cash the check, after a while it bounces and the money is out of your account. They retreive the gift cards by the numbers on the front and back and make online orders with those gift cards. Don’t do it. return the envelope and content to your local USPS office.
