Type of a scam Government Grant
Consumer reported that she received a message from a friend on Facebook that wrote she had received grant money from Community Domestic Financial Assistance or CDFA. Her friend wrote that she had seen the consumer name on the list and that she should claim her money by texting 515-428-0654. Consumer, thinking her friend was telling the truth, text the number and received a reply. She was told that her name was on the list and she could get as much as $100,000 grant assistance money. She would have to pay $1500 to claim the grant money. Consumer texted with the person multiple times about the money and delivery which was to be made by UPS. Consumer was told by ScamPulse.com employee that this was a scam and that she should call her Facebook friend and tell her, as well as report the incident to Facebook. Consumer did not send any money.
