Very odd speaking fellow. Insisting I won the random drawing for my state that is every six months. Gave a badge ID number and even said his name was John Tanner. That the sweepstakes winning was $750k and a 2019 Mercedes. That tomorrow at 2:30 pm two ladies and a gentleman would accompany a lawyer David Roff with my winning check.

I received a call from a man (non east Indian or Middle east accent) claiming to represent a law firm in Toronto saying that I was probably expecting his call. I asked for what and he said my cash prize. I asked from what and he said sweepstakes clearing house competition. I asked when did I enter this and he said sometime between November and February. I said I had no recollection of this and he asked me to confirm that I was the correct person and rattled off my name. city, province and postal code. I said that I never entered a competition and then the line went dead.

What was slightly unusual about this was that the voice was mature and very self-assured and not the usual young foreign accent speaking from a script.

The scammer knew his address and called on the phone, had said he had won $875,000 but told him to send moneygram $920 (he didn’t get the address). He told the scammer he could drive up to NY to JFK airport and the scammer said he could deliver the moneygram at building 77 to save $200 & call him an hour before he got there. Gave him a confirmation number 002625173. Said he sounded middle eastern. His name was Richard, answered the phone as JFK Customs at that phone number. The airport said custom’s would not call to say he had a package waiting there but that there is building 77, 718-285-8663
