Clearbridge Health Imposter

Kathleen – Jan 21, 2021

Received a message on freelancer then was asked to proceed to Mr. Chen on telegram. I entertained it to waste time, robot for sure. He asks you to say okay or done after every instruction but you can literally say anything and he will respond the exact same. Scam for sure but I am waiting for my fake check. Want to really throw them off tell them you will absolutely make the purchases as soon as the check clears the bank and you get a bonus lecture on trust within the company.

Initial means of contact Text message

I have now been contacted a 2nd time by someone claiming to work for Clearbridge Health. The text message always starts the same, asking if this is Arlen… When I go to inquire as to who it is that’s texting me like this, I’m receive a series of messages that come so close together that you just know that it’s already a predefined message being sent as they are too long to have been typed that quickly.
Today it was a Mrs. Caroline C. Foye, texting me from 479-364-2399 (various, Arkansas). The other day I was contacted by Mrs Mary Rhonda at 971-274-4756 (Portland, Or) with the same intro into the “interview process.”
Immediately both ladies ask about what kind of position I’m looking for – data entry / customer service / administrative assistant – Full Time/Part Time – Reply yes if interested. Once I showed interest in the position they immediately tell me how the position pays $30.47 an hour and ask how I’d like to go thru the online screening process by being interviewed via Skype, Hangouts or WhatsApp. Upon responding with which platform I have an account to I was provided with the next persons name and contact number – Mr Joesph Jones – WhatsApp 561-461-3470 (Palm Beach, Fl) – at this point Mrs. Mary Rhonda is no longer in communication with me, Mr Jones will now be my point of contact. When I messaged the WhatsApp number I am provided with as his to begin the interview process, I never even tell this person anything, not even my name and he just started into his “interview process” right away. Never even stopped to ask my name actually or anything for that matter, just straight to the point.
Now for me, just with the first message that provided 2 different phone numbers, area code and all, caused me worry. I have a background in fraud – as an analyst – so these things immediately jumped out to me.
At this point I did Google the name of the company and not to much of my surprise I found the company headquarters located nowhere other than Midview City, Central Region, Singapore! I am located in Texas. There’s already too many area codes being thrown around in 1 message for me!
Then it just got worse, while messaging with Mr. Jones, no matter what I responded with to his long paragraphs, be it OKAY or any other variation, not even spelled correctly, he just kept messaging not skipping a beat, but when we reached the point of having a clean criminal record, (this is a big deal for me as I am one of the many people in this country trying to work and live with a record), I told him then that I did not have a clean record and he just kept messaging, the paragraphs seeming to get longer and more “serious”, I’m still stuck on the record part and trying to find some kind of clarity in the matter, but since he’s not responding to me about the situation no matter what I say I just stopped responding at the point that he asked me to respond to a series of questions (11 to be exact) not a single one of them would provide a short, sweet and simple answer. I just stopped and not 1 time was I ever contacted again. I had dismissed it until today when I was contacted again today by the same company, I immediately asked for the location of their main office and not surprisingly, I was responded to that with the statement that this was an “online only” position. I stated that was great but I’d like to know who I was working for and that I’d like the location of their main office, this shouldn’t really be surprising to anyone that this question would ever be asked…and she just stopped responding to me. I’m pretty good with Google and I’m not dummy to fraud scams, so now I’ve looked into any phone number that I was provided and from what I can find is the 561 number is the ONLY one that’s even valid and is an older couples land line in Palm Beach, Fl and there is no one associated with the name Joesph Jones, there’s not even a Joesph or a Jones for that matter. I did actually call that WhatsApp number and when I asked for Joesph the man just hung up the phone and didn’t say anything else, I attempted to call back and he didn’t answer again. The phone number that results back to Oregon is a VOiP number as well as the one in Arkansas – neither number is a real valid phone number, nothing put a dead end there but thats no surprise.

Hi Arlen,

This information was great to share as I was just contacted Wednesday by that same number and it was Mrs. Caroline C Foye inquiring about a position i applied for for Anglo American and she put me in contact with Mr. Didier Charreton. The sad part of this is the company is real and so it that person Mr. Charreton. I have looked him up on LinkedIN and messaged him and even contacted the company. Now the company is based in the UK but there site is offfice from what I can see. The man stated he was ready to send me a check for my supplies to begin working from home, know i was still employed and didn’t even give me time to think about it and speak with my boss. It does upset me that this is a scam as the job pay and benefits were great. I appreciate the information you provided.

Same thing for me as I read these. Mr.Chen Johnson. lol. I asked if he was a BOT and his response was ‘ok’. I told him I wasn’t paying for a laptop and he said one will be sent to me. I received the check via email for the other stuff. I asked how can I start with out any offer letter, W4 or anything. I then was emailed that. He hasn’t asked for bank info though. I think that will be coming up. I figured i would humor him to see how it turns out. No company will pay $35 an hour without an actual interview and all paperwork etc.

Alana – Dec 20, 2020

I too have been scammed by Clearbridge Health. I was contacted by Chen Johnson with a job offer of $35 an hour and was issued a check for $4900.00. I deposited it and was instructed to send their vendors a specific amount of money for my working materials. As soon as I sent them the money, their check bounced! I was reissued a second check to cover the first one which was almost double the amount. Don’t fall for it and don’t get scammed like I did! Below is the account of Chen Johnson from what’s app.

Denise – Dec 12, 2020

This is the second time this particular company has contacted me. First time I interviewed with this company via zoom this was the first time I knew something wasn’t right because it wasn’t a face to face interview he didn’t even want to talk to me on the phone he wanted to text. Offered a job doing customer service paying 35 dollars an hour I was told I would be sent a check for the purchase of all the equipment that I would need including a Mac book pro . I was told that I would have to deposit this check into my account and was asked about my account information which made me immediately call my bank on a separate phone. Because my radar went up at this point to ask them if I can open a separate account for this check to go into just in case this is a scam I was then told by my bank of my concerns and was told that if it was a bad check all of my account would be closed. So then when I told the guy I was supposed to be interviewing with that I wouldn’t give him my account information he now had to find another way to send me the check amount and flipped it on him and asked for a certified check to be sent through the mail or to send the amount on a company bank card through the mail. The conversation went to asking me to pay for the equipment because there was a urgent need for me to start work that Monday of the following week. I then pushed back and asked why would you need me to pay for the equipment with no guarantee of a position and told him to overnight me the card or certified check and hung up he then began trying my phone number to reach out to me but when I answered I wasn’t to a human voice I proceeded to hang up and block the number so he then resorted to texting me and sending the pictures of the equipment that I would be using as if that would make a difference. After all of this I was just contacted again

I just had an offer for work through this company and I’m not qualified for a few of the requirements. I know it’s too good to be true.! There are too many of these to good to be true jobs. I wished Linkedin would vet some of these companies.

Joanna – Dec 10, 2020

I was also made an offer over the phone with a company work from home.
Everything would be paid for and needed to purchase items with an account or check they would send me.
But something did not add up so I refused the job. Glad I did after read about the scam!

I applied for an admin job on Indeed. I received an interview over the phone and did not think anything of it because of the Coronavirus. I was informed that I had the job and it was a work from home. I would need to purchase a fax machine, laptop, internet, and home phone. I was issued a check in the amount of $4,800 off of a M&T business account. I finally got a hold of someone at M&T and was informed that the check was fraudulent.
