Type of a scam Phishing
Received a phone call today pretending to be from Century Link phone company. Stated that they are reducing everyone’s bill by 35% for the next 6 months on all their valued customers and then it will go back to the regular amount. They would like to know my name and job title.This was because they could only give this to a supervisor or manager. Could you say your name as it appears.(I said no and did not repeat this) They are needing to give me a confirmation # , but in order to give this to me, I will need to prove that I am not a minor. Could I give them my birthdate. ( I said no). They went on to tell me that they could not give me the confirmation # until they could verify that I was not a minor.I asked him to fax me the information. He took down the fax number from me and said he would send me infromation. Then he asked me for my mothers maiden name to link me to the call in case they would need further information. ( I said no) .
He then hung up when he knew he was not going to get personal information from me. This was a gentleman that called, and had a Indian accent (BALI) Called Century Link. This is not coming from their company.
