Hello everyone, I am here to share my side. Back in the summer this same person contacted my mother through instagram. He proclaimed his deep passion and love for her and how he felt God brought them together and he met her in a dream. I warned my mother of internet catfishes and social media scams. She insisted this was different and I genuinely feared for her. He told her he had two daughters, 5 and 7 that were in a Catholic boarding school in Ohio. It is now November 28th, and on November 1st my mother informed me she was divorcing my father for this man and was going to move to Ohio to be with him. That he had everything set up for them to be married and she would be the mother to his two daughters.. My mother never heeded my warning and continued to stay in contact with him. She swore to me he wasn’t asking for any money, but that the GIRLS wanted gift cards to play video games at school. 5 and 7 year olds do not play video games on Steam in Catholic boarding school. I knew and warned her from the beginning this that it was a scam, but she kept finding excuses and then became physically violent. She has attacked my father and I physically and has left the family. All because I showed her all of this. She defended it all the way saying HE was the one who had this identity stolen and she really has the REAL guy. This has gone so far but you are all not alone in this. This is a nasty scam and every time we try to confront her with it, she becomes nasty and has since left to stay elsewhere while she waits to “move in with him in April”. This has honestly been the worst month in my entire 24 years of living. She has made everyone out to be the bad guy and has defended this to the end. My father is in pieces and I have a deep rage inside of me because I genuinely tried to stop this before it even began, but my mother as long as I can remember has been mentally unstable and subject to manipulation. She through this has shown her true colors and has honestly destroyed the family bond we had at all. We have contacted the military, police, and even the FBI and they informed us there is nothing that can be done because we are personally not being scammed, she is. But unfortunately she is in complete denial about it being a scam and has hurt us in the process. I have been reserving my side of this to see if anything else came up on here and now that I see the new reports from two days ago I decided I was going to chime in. This is the scariest thing I have ever dealt with honestly and it has destroyed so much. My mother has gone as far as printing out all of his “photos” and put them in a scrapbook about her “future” with him. She’s entirely delusional and even with this website, and the other articles about it, she has made excuses the entire way. I know that even with all of the proof, she will deny it all the way. Scams are not a joke and this has destroyed a 25 year marriage and has resulted in a woman disowning her daughter because ” I am the bad guy for trying to help”. I am so sorry to anyone involved in this scam. I can just hope it all goes away.

I was almost scammed by this guy also. I started talking with him October 31st and by November 5th he proclaimed his deep emotional feelings for me. Talked with him on Hangouts for 3 weeks before he told me he was having a hard time getting money out of his account to get gift cards for his 2 daughters 8 and 4. He asked me if I could get him 2 Amazon gift cards each with $50. I told him I couldn’t because I live on a fixed income and my money was tied up. Which is the truth.
He also claimed his daughters were being watched by a nanny. He claims he’s adopted and has no siblings.
This guy asked 3 times and each time I told him I couldn’t and why doesn’t he contact the nanny to take care of it.
He started to get ugly about the situation. I thought I’d try a little lie on my on so after a couple of days not replying to his messages I told him I got the money together and I asked him for his daughters address so I could mail them directly to them. He was all excited about thinking I had the cards and told me to scratch off the backs, take a picture of them and send it to him.
I’d heard about this particular scam on the news the night before. Anyway I stopped chatting with him for 2 days and he sent some ugly messages. That’s when I decided to tell him that I wanted to see his Military ID. No ID no more communication and I’d block him. 4 days have passed and he’s not made contact.
This guy needs to be stopped. How do I get the authority’s involved?

Victim Location 63640

Total money lost $550

Type of a scam Family/Friend Emergency

This guy tells me he is a Captain with the Army based in Syria and that he has been looking for me for along time and that he had a dream and God sent him to me, he is wanting to marrying and he also wants $5700 to send to the boarding school his daughter is attending in Ohio. and he wants $700 monthly for her schooling. He makes it sound real but I am a disabled Army Veteran and live off social security. I would like to find out if at all possible for he said his daughter is at Cleveland Central High School and she is only 8. I tried calling 411 but they don’t have a listing on it. He has never called but he texts all the time and makes it seem like its 8 hours in front of me. So if I can find out if he is real or a scammer I would greatly appreciate it.

I’m not sure when this was posted but I do believe you were getting scammed. This same person contacted me via Instagram one morning (Nov 2019). Came on very strong throughout the day. I did notice, as the day went on, his use of the English language didn’t match someone claiming to be from Ohio. The next morning I googled his name and saw your post here. I messaged with him for less than 24 hours so I didn’t give him the chance to ask for any money but when I told him I googled his name and said he was a scammer he got very, very angry at me and tried to deny it. I immediately blocked him. Thank you for posting this so other women can see what he’s doing. The man in the many, many, many pictures he sends is not him. When I google searched his Instagram name a photo of a younger middle eastern man came up which matched more to what his broken English in his chats sounded like. I tried to do an image search to try and find the real person behind the photos to let him know his life is being used as a scam but no info popped up. How horrible this man is preying on women and hiding behind the uniform of an American soldier. Ladies beware! Trust your gut and report scammers like this!
