Type of a scam Credit Repair/Debt Relief
Received a call with "BMO Harris Bank" on caller ID.An offer of a lower interest rate on existing credit cards. Caller asked for SSN, I declined to give information,then asked for last four numbers of SSN,I also declined to release information.They then told me the number of credit cards I have in total,the number with BOA,the number with Synchrony bank,and the number with various department stores.All correct with the exception of stating"my American Express card" which I don’t and never have had.Also gave me the balance of one of my BOA credit cards.They knew my address and phone number,since they called me.Their offer was to be able to lower my interest rate by combining balances of current cards.I continued with the call,so far not releasing any information.I was beginning to think call may be legitimate until they continued to ask for my SSN and more of the numbers of my credit cards and the security code on the back of the card.At which point I terminated the call and contacted BMO Harris bank with a phone number I found online.They confirmed they did not and would not initiate a call like that.There is no answer at the number that appeared on my caller ID when I tried to call them back.My concern is also,how do they get some personal information like they had about me?
