Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order
I posted an elliptical for sale on Craigslist. I was emailed by the scammer saying she wanted it and would pay the price we asked. I received a second email that said her personal assistant accidentally made the check out for more than we asked because she I closed the fee for her moving company to pick up the elliptical. She asked that I cash the check and pay the movers with the difference when they arrived. This made me very leery and when the check arrived it looked bogus. I talked with my bank and they said it looked and sounded fake to them. I contacted the bank listed and they also said they’ve had problems with someone using the account number at the bottom of the check. I emailed the lady back telling her this and I have not heard back.
