In late February I found an add on Craig’s List for a condo in Maui. I contacted the email from the ad and had an online conversation with Robert Kugel via the email address [email protected] to reserve the condo for 2 weeks in November. (He also used the email address [email protected]) He sent us a contract via DocuSign which was very detailed and included a Hawaii Business Certificate#4199205, which we have now found out is not his. He requested payment via Walmart or Google Wallet. I paid via Google Wallet. The first request for payment came from [email protected] This payment was cancelled due to a Google Wallet error per Mr. Kugel. The request was resent from [email protected] and that payment went through. After receiving the payment, Mr. Kugel sent me an invoice but I have not been able to contact him since then. We found out in October that this is a scam. Mr. Kugel is not the property owner, and the Hawaii Business Certificate is not his.
