Type of a scam Debt Collections
I received a call from someone claiming to be from Blanchard Law Firm on a credit card debt that they said was from 97-2008 They said if I didn’t act by the following day I would be served and have to pay all court costs in civil court. The amount owed they said was under $2000 yet they are threatening me with a lien on my property and garnishing my wages. And if I didn’t show up in court once I was served they would put a bench warrant out on me. According to Ohio law there is a 6 year statute of limitation and this was well over that amount of time. They said the statute of limitation starts when the company stops trying to collect the debt and in this case was 2013 so they can sue me. I haven’t acted yet I am trying to find out more information first but have to hurry as they say I only have until tomorrow to pay them or I will have to go to court. I don’t know what to do.
