Total money lost $87,500

Type of a scam Other

The business owner, ** ***, contacted my company regarding hiring us for two commercial construction projects he wanted done, one in Cicero and the other in Oak Lawn. They were to be commercial build outs for restaurants. Everything seemed on the up and up. *** had architectural drawings and seemed to be a legitimate business person. We negotiated a work agreement and we began the work. As we went on the checks he wrote kept bouncing, one after the other. He repeatedly assured us that he had the money and it would be all worked out. We stopped working on both projects and he ended up bouncing $87,500 worth of checks. I have come to find out that Pilarz also stiffed other contractors he hired on his projects including an asphalt company and his architect. The property owner, *** *** wants nothing to do with this situation and couldn’t care less how many people his tenant screwed out of money for their work.
