Someone called claiming that they were from Best Buy and that if I didn’t follow there instructions $580 would be deducted from my account for computer services. The number was from Texas. I ended up hanging up on him.

Complaint on social media for those people who have had bad experiences with Best Buy customer service or product ordering. Blog said to call "corporate" number for complaints. (888-237-8289). Call is answered "Corporate Offices" by a man with a very distinguished sounding diction. In my case the man said his name was "Richard Schwab".

The man listens to your complaint and then says he will compensate you. He then provides his name and "direct dial" phone number. (800-759-6417 x 7000) He instructs you to go to a Best Buy store and call him when you are outside of the store. He then says he will give you 10-15% off your purchase, overnight shipping, and other perks for your inconvenience. He will tally up the ‘perks’ and give you an approximate dollar amount of the refund for your inconvenience.

He says he does not want to inform the store about the issue and asks that you do not discuss it with the store employees. He then instructs you to go inside the store and purchase gift card(s) and call him back. I called bull[censored] at this time and did not go inside the store and purchase gift cards. I would assume that he would then ask you to give him the gift card numbers so he could process your discounted purchase. By that time, you’re too much of a sucker and have already lost the value of the gift cards.

Don’t fall for the scan from this scumball!!!

Type of a scam Credit Cards

I received phone message telling me that my credit card was going to be charged for a yearly subscription. To call them back if I didn’t want to continue my subscription for computer service. I have no such service so I called the number back. I was told that they were going to use my bank account number. I told him Best buy has never done any work on my computer and I want to know what numbers that they have. He hung up on me.

Email from someone claiming to be from Best Buy saying a strange IP address is trying to login to my account. When I clicked on the update information it took me to a page wanting me to enter my credit card number and my social security number. That reised a red flag so I called the corporate office and they said it was a scam.

Type of a scam Online Purchase

I purchased my appliances through the bestbuy.com website earlier today 1 pm and received a call around 7 pm from a "best buy associate" wanting to verify my order. She verified my address and then goes to ask me to verify my date of birth. I immediately tell her I’ve never done this before and that I will call best buy customer service since my order will be placed on hold until I give out my personal information. I call 612-292-9000 back and it’s a disconnected number. I go online and it’s a verified fraudulent number. So I then call best buy customer service and report this but the guy tells me I don’t see where anybody from best buy has tried to contact you. Im also told best buy doesn’t give out their customers private information and that best buy would only have access to my number/address. I will be going to my bank tomorrow to close that card account. I don’t feel safe buying from their website and I hope this helps someone else.

I received several phone calls from 1-914-xxx-xxx6 by an Indian man claiming to be a Best Buy employee. He said he needed to get into my computer in order to give me a "refund" for computer tech service I received (which I did not receive). I did not comply with his request and I asked for a manager. A "manager" came on the phone and asked once again to get into my computer to issue me a "refund." When I told them they were a scam and I was going to report them, they got irate and yelled expletives at me. I promptly hung up the phone. They continued to call my phone, again and again, which I did not answer, but I blocked their number from my phone. I called Best Buy to report the fraud and would like to tell the BBB about this so they can warn others not to comply with these people.

Type of a scam Debt Collections

I purchased a new computer at Best Buy in Grafton. I was prepared to pay for it at the time of purchase. The associate told me about their free financing promo. I opted to take advantage. We started to receive statements asking for monthly payments. I ignored them believing that they were in error. Then we began to get collection calls. After speaking with a collection rep, I found out that there was no such promotion and payments needed to be made. I then paid for my original purchase in full. They then assessed a late fee of $52 and began a barrage of automated calls. I talked to their associates and explained my situation. They would do nothing. I am now forced to pay them $152.00 just to make the calls stop. In my opinion, this is legalized extortion. I will NEVER walk into another Best Buy store and will do my best to warn others of my experience. Bad business!
