Total money lost $6

Type of a scam Phishing

I went to a tent set up on Liliha between King Street and Vineyard by the bus stop, which has been there for a month offering free mobiles. Since the tent has been there over a month, I thought it was legitimate. As part of the application process for the free phone, I was asked to provide my name, birth date, social security number, whether I was in section 8 housing or not, and my signature on an iPad. Once the information was submitted the person at the tent advised me that someone had already applied for the free phone using my name and social security number, and they can override it for a fee of $20. I said I only have $6. The person agreed to reduce the fee and took my $6. However, I don’t have any indications that I was actually approved for the phone. I’m not too sure of the name of the company she was representing since I did not get a copy of the application signed on iPad.
