My elderly mother received a phone call from 203-850-6153 – Richard Lee Cooper. He told her that she had suspicious activity on her debit card. My elderly mother told him that her son had taken over all her cards and account. She would have her son call him. I (the elderly son) called the phone number and he answered and said his name was Richard Lee Cooper – Agent for the Day. I asked the company he was with and he said the Better Business Bureau Fraud Investigation. Richard said that there had been suspicious activity of $5,000 on my elderly mother’s debit card ($3,000 to purchase airline ticket and $2,000 to purchase iPhone). Richard would not provide any details of the specific activity, such as the last 4 digits of the card. Richard only would provide the name of the bank. I told Richard that I would contact the bank to check on this activity and to possibly close account. Richard said I should not contact the bank, as they maybe committing the fraud and I should only respond to him with information. I said no that I would contact the bank and he hung up on me.
