I contacted a pet breeder requesting more information through their online form. They also listed an email address, so I thought I would give it a try. They contacted me through email (attached) with some information about the dachshund, asked me a few more questions, and provided a phone number. They noted they were from Oklahoma City, but the email seemed like a non-native English speaker. I called. The person who answered the phone sounded like they were in a call center (phones ringing in the background). He said to respond to his wife…never giving me a name… He said he was in the hospital with someone else at the moment and didn’t have access to all the information. I responded asking where I could pick up the puppy. Still no address. They asked for payment through a non-guaranteed means, still claiming that there was a 100% refund policy. I told them my last breeder provided an invoice through Paypal with her name, address, and tax identifier and asked them to do the same. I never heard back.

I requested information on a puppy and the person had responded. She seemed very nice and genuine and asked for details to make sure the puppy would have a great home. Her website looked real and had very long, detailed descriptions of how they take care of their puppies. I had asked for details about the puppy and she was fine answering them until I had asked for a current picture of the puppy with today’s date written on it and any documentation she could provide me with. I had also asked if I could pay the full amount upfront when I received the puppy. She only responded saying that in order to schedule a visit, I have to pay a 300 dollar deposit fee. So I then asked again for the picture at least and she never responded which was weird because she had been really good at responding. I then decided to reverse image search every image she sent me and got lucky with only one of them. The puppy I was interested in was on someone’s instagram page and already had a loving home far away from Oklahoma. The puppy was also a year old and not 11weeks like advertised.
