ATT / Direct TV

Dominic – Jun 01, 2020

Victim Location 65714

Type of a scam Phishing

I received a call from ************ from someone claiming to be from AT&T/Direct-TV (name provided was Max ******, ID 8005). They were calling to say they could lower my bill by $59 per month for the next five years as part of a promotion with no contract. They had my name, phone number, and address. They claimed to be looking at my account information and I asked what the catch was. They transferred me to a supervisor (named James *******) who then said he could lower my monthly payment by $79 per month, but in order to do so there is a one time $149.00 activation fee. I informed them I wouldn’t be providing them with a payment at this time and they told me I could mail a check in if I wished. I asked if I could get back to them on my decisions and they provided a callback number of ************.

I contacted AT&T via chat after the phone conversation. They claimed to have no record of the transaction or notes on my account of the promotion.
