PORTLAND, Ore. – The ScamPulse.com is warning of a phony Oregon quilt company that’s scamming people out of money this holiday season.

The fake business is operating under the name Amelia Cotton Quilt Company and lists a Salem, Oregon address, the BBB says.

BBB Northwest + Pacific is processing hundreds of complaints from people who say they paid for quilts, but have not received them. Most people say they purchased the quilts through a Facebook ad that directs them to the website www.AmeliaCotton10.com.

The BBB says Amelia Cotton Quilt Company is not registered with the Oregon Secretary of State’s Office and its business address is a private residence in Salem.

BBB is issuing a Scam Alert and giving Amelia Cotton Quilt Company an “F” rating after it failed to respond to multiple inquiries by investigators and consumers.

The BBB says shopping with a credit card can give you more protection against fake businesses that don’t deliver.

Investigators believe Amelia Cotton Quilt Company is now using the website www.sleepious.co.

I ordered a quilt on 12-4-2018. On 12-5-2018, I received an e-mail saying the order was being processed. On 12-10-2018, I received an e-mail saying that the quilt was finished and would be shipped soon via DHL. I e-mailed Amelia at [email protected] on 1-2-2019 to see when the quilt was going to be delivered. It is 1-8-2019 and I have not received a response.

When I Googled Amelia Quilt, I saw that it was a scam!! I will have to notify the credit card company!

I ordered a quilt for Christmas on December 4, 2018 from Amelia Quilts.

December 10, I received an e-mail stating the quilt was finished and was ready for pick up by DHL.

December 23, I e-mailed asking for the tracking number. I received a reply the following: Thank you for reaching out. We are so sorry for the incident. We have a large amount of goods to be shipped at the end of the year, so we delivery your order later than usual. We will update you with the tracking as soon as possible. Please stay tuned with us. Thank you for your patience.

Best Regards, Ecrafta Support Team.

January 2, I e-mailed again asking for a tracking number. Again, I received the same reply as before.

January 6, I e-mailed again and said to refund my order as my patience has worn out.

Today, I went to their website www.ameliaquilt.com and found the following message: We are now temporarily closed to process and deliver all the previously placed orders before Christmas! For instant support and information, please send us an email to [email protected]

Our sincerest apologies this inconvenience.

I ordered two animal motif quilts on December 4, did not get a receipt email which I found odd. The company continued to send multiple emails prompting me to buy more quilts with special discounts, which I did not do. They sent an order follow up email on December 10 stating my quilts were finished and would be picked up by DHL. I noticed the bad grammar and spelling in all of these subsequent emails, which made me wary. I googled their name mid December and saw your ScamPulse.com post that they were not legit. I am out 119.90 for the two quilts, which my credit card will absorb unfortunately.

I purchased 3 quilts on November 26, 2018 from Amelia Quilts and paid for them through PAYPAL. $209.85. Initially communication seemed appropriate from [email protected] and from Tania at Ecrafta Support team. Questions were being answered assuring delivery by 12/25/2018. They provided me with a tracking number that stated an address label was printed on 12/7/2018. As communication regarding delivery status went on, the emails became more vague and the tracking numbers became "missing" from the DHL ecommerce tracking system. Last communication was 12/20/2018 saying the order was in transit. When I contacted today, the email came back undeliverable.

I ordered a quilt advertised on Facebook. I was told it would take 5-7 days to complete my order. That was on November 19.

I only get auto replies from the company. I’ve been sent a tracking number but it is a foreign tracking number and the business claims it is based out of Oregon. The website is now defunct.

I’ve filed a case with PayPal and they have responded to that, but that’s the only way I can get in touch with them.

Purchased a limited number, handmade Hiking themed queen-sized quilt online from Amelia Quilts/ECrafta on 11/20. This was intended to be a Christmas gift to my wife. Received welcome and order confirmation email on 11/21. Two weeks later, became concerned that no updates on purchase were sent by seller, and I requested a status of my order on Dec 6. On Dec 11 I was sent an email with DHL tracking number, which listed the status as enroute to DHL ecommerce center as of Dec 7, with tracking number of CNCSE3188584462972. Status has not been updated since on DHL tracking website, and subsequent efforts to contact seller have been unanswered. One month later, the company has virtually dropped off the face of the earth, and has not responded to any attempts to contact them. Did further research and learned that this business is being reported as a scam by various local Pacific Northwest news outlets and by the BBB.I was charged $59.95 for quilt and an additional $4.95 for shipping, for a total of $64.90 through Paypal by a company named Printabel Company, Limited. Fortunately, I paid with a credit card, not one of my debit cards, and am currently working with both the credit card company and Paypal to have my money recovered.

In November I started noticing quilt advertisements in my Facebook news feed. I clicked on it and saw a wide variety of nice looking quilts available & saw a motorcycle quilt & immediately thought it would be nice Christmas gift for my husband. I clicked out of it and for a couple days thought if i should purchase on or not. The motorcycle quilt popped into my new feed again so I decided to purchase it on 11/27/18.

I received an email thanking me for my purchase and that i would receive an email when my quilt was ready to ship and it had a summary of my order along with a confirmation #. On 12/10/18 I received an email saying Your Quilt is Ready for Shipping!

See below as i copied the email.

I’ve just got the notification that the product is finished, and it is ready for shipment.

The usual course of action is that we wait for the courier to pick it up, and then it is in the process.

Due to the high peak season, your package will be arrived a little bit late than usual. I’ll send you an email with the tracking number from DHL when they ship it out.

Thank you for being patient!

DHL will be packed to ensure utmost security and problem prevention.

The time will pass by soon, and you’ll have your new quilt at your doorstep.

With warmest regards,

Amelia,

AmeliaQuilt.com

Around 12/19/18, I sent an email inquiring about the quilt and if it had shipped because i did not receive a tracking # fro DHL.

I responded to an ad on Facebook offering a variety of quilts that were very appealing. After reading the description of the product, which is in fact a misrepresentation of the product, (i.e. hand sewn cotton quilt by a company located in Salem, Oregon), I purchased two queen size quilts as Christmas gifts. This was on November 17, 2018. A couple of days later, on November 19, 2018, I decided to purchase two more queen size quilts after receiving an email offering a 25% discount for the next 2 days. All totaled I spent $214.78 for four queen size quilts. On December 9, 2018, I emailed the company to inquire on the status of my order. I first received an automated response saying someone would get back with me within the next 24 business hours. I received a response about 12 hours later saying that my order had been sent out for production and that I would receive another email once they were shipped. On December 11, 2018, I received 2 emails saying that my order had shipped. These were concerning the quilts I had ordered on 11/17/18. Both included tracking numbers that revealed the quilts were being shipped by DHL, and their origin was Shanghai, China, not Salem, Oregon as advertised. On December 16, 2018, I sent another email advising the company that I still had not received either quilt and that the tracking information showed them only as "enroute". I have never received an answer to that email. I was now quite concerned as it didn’t appear as any of the quilts I had ordered would be here by Christmas. I began looking for another means of contacting the company when I came upon numerous complaints about this company, indicating that they were a scam. On December 18, 2018 I filed a dispute with PayPal on both of these purchases. I followed that up with filling a dispute with my credit card company. On December 27, 2018 I received the first of the two quilts I had ordered on 11/17/18. I opened that package that weighed just 1.77 pounds and fit inside my standard USPS mailbox. What a horrible product. It was made of polyester, not the cotton it was advertised as and it was seriously two pieces of polyester sewn together with absolutely no batting or padding in between. It was not individual pieces sewn together, just an image printed on 1 piece of fabric sewn onto a solid color piece of fabric on the backside. On December 29, 2018, I received the second of the 2 quilts ordered on 11/17/18. I have not opened this package as it is exactly the same as the package I had received 2 days earlier. I have not received any information whatsoever concerning the 2 quilts ordered on 11/19/18. I am waiting for further instructions from my credit card company. They have credited my account for both purchases and are waiting to see if the merchant respond to the dispute.

My husband received information via Facebook regarding quilts, one of which was a fishing quilt. My nephew is a fishing nut, so I thought this was the perfect Christmas gift. I placed my order on 11/27/18, which was confirmed immediately. I received a follow up email on 12/8, stating my quilt was finished with the following additional message: "I’ve just got the notification that the product is finished, and it is ready for shipment. The usual course of action is that we wait for the courier to pick it up, and then it is in the process. The average delivery period from that moment is 7-10 days."

At this point, I had no concern as it seemed there would be plenty of time to receive the quilt for Christmas. Given the hustle & bustle of the season, I promptly put the order out of my mind, until I was wrapping gifts on 12/24. I checked the Amelia Quilt Website and found the following message: "We are now temporarily closed to process and deliver all the previously placed orders before Christmas! For instant support and information, please send us an email to [email protected]" I could not even view items they had available.

I entered "Amelia Quilt" in the search engine of my computer and found an alert from the ScamPulse.com dated 12/10 of a potential fraud alert for Amelia Quilt. I checked my credit card and found a charge from PAYPAL *PRINTABEL. I did not use PayPal and had never seen the name "printabel" before.

I opened an investigation with my credit card company immediately. I also contacted Amelia Quilt via email and received the following reply: "Thank you for reaching out. We are so sorry for the incident. We have a large amount of goods to be shipped at the end of the year, so we delivery your order later than usual. We will update you with the tracking as soon as possible."

I sent an email request to cancel my order and got the following response "Thank you for reaching out. Unfortunately, we cannot cancel the order at this moment since they have been sent out for production." Interesting that the order has now been "sent out for production" when I previously received an email that the quilt was completed on 12/8.

As of this date (12/31) I still have not received a quilt and doubt I ever will. I again requested that the order be cancelled since I no longer need this Christmas gift, and was again informed that it cannot be cancelled. I am fortunate that I used my American Express and my money has been refunded while the investigation is underway.

Likely, no new orders can be placed since the Website is not operational; however, I would advise that no one place an order with this company. Additionally, I would recommend working with your credit card company to investigate this possible fraudulent activity.

Amelia Quilts was advertising on FaceBook. Purchase a quilt and a portion of my purchase would go towards a charity. The quilt was to be a Christmas gift for an off road bicyclist. It would have been perfect! However, after payment all communications stopped. I wasn’t provided a tracking number or receipt. I began to panic and rightfully so. I tried to bring up the website and found it no longer exists. I did find the ScamPulse.com report and it seems many people have been scammed.

Ordered a King Size quilt from Facebook Ad on November 17, 2018 for $79.90. The only way to contact company was through email on their website, which I sent numerous. Finally received response on where my order was with very generic, in production or waiting on shipping through shipping carrier. As of today December 22, 2018 no quilt has been received or shipped. I paid for this through PayPal with a company called Printable Company Limited receiving the funds through Paypal. I have notified Paypal and opened a dispute with them and also contacted my credit card company and filed a claim.

Bought a King Size Quilt from what appeared to be a reputable company. Found out it is a scam. Actually received a DHL tracking number and a postal tracking number that looked legit. Figured it was a scam when package was never received and on line posting by the ScamPulse.com and others denoted it was fake. Website has since been shutdown. I purchased through a link on Facebook. Initially searched the company and it looked OK in November. Now in December it has been discovered to be bad. 100’s have been taken. The Oregon ScamPulse.com has already identified it as a scam.

I ordered 2 quilts from Ameliaquilt.com through a Facebook Ad on November 15th, 2018 for $139.90. Their website said that you would receive your order in 5 business days. Being that this companies address was only about 15-20 minutes from where I live I emailed them to see if I could just pick up my order to save them time, and money on shipping (they provided free shipping so I thoght I was being nice). I received an auto generated response just saying that my order was "being processed". They accepted their payments through PayPal so after a couple of weeks I contacted my bank, as well as PayPal. On December 20th I received an email from PayPal with a shipping & tracking notification from the seller. My order had a DHL tracking number so I went online to DHL to track the package, and the tracking number was created on December 7th but had never made it to DHL to actually ship. They created a fake tracking number to make it look like they were actually processing orders to keep PayPal, and the banks off of their tail. My bank gave me a temporary credit for my purchase while they investigate my dispute. I am afraid that they will try to say that they actually shipped my order, and it’s not their fault that I never received it, and then my bank will reverse the credit so that these crooks will get to keep my $139.90.

On November 19, 2018, I ordered a quilt from Amelia Quilt after viewing their ad on Facebook. The price (including shipping) was almost $55.00. I paid using my debit card thru Paypal and immediately received an e-mail receipt for the transaction. Also on that date, I received a "welcome" letter from "Amelia Parker – Founder of Amelia Quilt" thanking me for my order and assuring me that they were there to make me happy with their service. Also on 11/19, I received an e-mail indicating my order was getting ready to be shipped and they would notify me when shipping occurs.

On 11/20, I received an e-mail indicating my order was "officially being processed" and the estimated processing time was 5 to 7 working days.

On December 11, I received an e-mail notification that my order had now shipped, providing both the order and a link to use in tracking my order. This e-mail was sent from amelia-quilt < [email protected] The link is to "DHL ecommerce" and the tracking order supplied was "CNCSE3188500638324".

I checked on December 17 with DHL in order to get an update as to the expected delivery date. At that time, the status was "6:57 p.m. – Arrival at DHL ecommerce Distribution Center". I continued checking the status with DHL on a daily basis, and noticed there was no update as to the status of the package. By that time, I was beginning to get suspicious as to the validity of this sale, so on December 18, I sent an e-mail to Ameliaquilt indicating my dissatisfaction as to the delivery of my order. I received a response from Ecrafta [email protected], acknowledging my inquiry and telling me their "support staff" was reviewing it and would respond within the next 24 business hours.

The next day I received the following e-mail:

"

Eric Crafta (Ecrafta)

Dec 19, 00:01 AKST

Hi Gail,

Thank you for reaching out. Your order was sent out for production, and once it’s shipped, we will send you an update email with the tracking number.

Please stay tuned with us. Thank you for your patience.

Best Regards,

Ecrafta Support Team.

"

I immediately responded that I’d already received notification my order had shipped, received the tracking number, etc. I’ve had no reply or additional correspondence with them since that time.

Due to the fact their responses were confusing at best, I decided to GOOGLE the website and discovered the SCAM alert posted by the BBB. I believe this company’s got my $55.00 and I’ll never receive anything from them!!

On November 25, 2018 I ordered a queen size cat quilt for a Christmas gift for my sister. I paid with PayPal. Business name was Amelia Quilt. I never received it. When I checked on the website it stayed “Oops, page cannot be found.” I looked up the company to find as of December 10, 2018 the ScamPulse.com had received multiple complaints and was investigating this company as well as the same company going by other names. This company was also known as Amelia Cotton Quilt Company, Joyce Quilting, Emma Cotton Quilts, Elise Quilts and Bella Quilt Company. The BBB indicated no business registration was found in the state of Oregon. The article suggests filing a complaint with the FBI internet crime complaint center at www.ic3.org and the Federal trade commission at www.ftc.gov. The address was found to be a private residence. Attempts to contact these fake businesses by BBB at [email protected] found no response. I requested my money returned or a quilt from this email and I received a response from Mariah Garner at (Ecrafta). Stating the quilt was in production and an email would be sent to me when It was ready to be mailed. My order was paid by PayPal in the amount of $58.91. When I searched Facebook numerous others commented about these companies being scams. No one received their ordered items.

I was supposed to receive a queen size quilt before Christmas.

I placed my order on-line on 12/6/18.

At 6:46 p.m. that same day I received a confirmation email from the Merchant.

As the order entry process did not allow me to apply a discount code that they had supplied me, I immediately followed up with an email asking how I could apply the discount code to the order.

At 6:52 p.m. on same day (12/6/18), I received an email from merchant advising they had received my request and they would review in 24 business hours.

On December 12, 2018 after being unsuccessful in getting a response to any emails, I googled the company and found a BBB Alert that basically stated I had been the victim of a scam.

On December 20, 2018, I went to the Merchant’s website to track my order and was given a notification that “Order not found” Merchant.

I think I initially saw this company on a FB ad. I quickly got an email confirmation. Then waited and waited. I got an email saying one of the items shipped and it came with a DHL tracking #, which I didn’t follow up on until about a week later. I was confused by the tracking as the email was sent on Dec 11 but the tracker was for Dec 7th but again I just waited not suspecting anything. Well, I just checked the tracker again and realized it was fake and tried to contact the company but it is “closed to fill the high volume” or whatever. I never received an email from them about my order but kept getting emails for more products with coupon s for a discount. I finally sent them an email and got a response from a Glen Bains saying they are swamped and my order was sent out for production and they would send my quilt asap.

Total scam. Found their advertisement on Facebook. I purchased a $54 quilt, and paid (thankfully) through PayPal. They sent me an order confirmation email saying it would take 5-7 days to process. After two weeks, I emailed them for an order update. The responded with a canned email telling me to be patient. This was a huge red flag, so I emailed back immediately. No response this time. Another red flag. Looked up their website online, and there is absolutely NO contact info listed! Third red flag! I checked into ScamPulse.com for any information they might have and discovered this was a scam. I contacted PayPal immediately and filed a fraud claim, and I gave them the ScamPulse.com alert information for their investigation. I was promptly issued a refund from PayPal.

Purchased 3 quilts from this site on December 1st. I did my homework and looked them up beforehand. At this time I only found what looked like places they were sold. It showed bed bath and beyond, crackel barrel and other reputable companies. So I thought It was safe. I received an email on December 8th stating they were completed and ready to ship. It stated I would receive confirmation numbers when it shipped. These were Christmas presents and when I hadn’t heard anything by the 15th, I began to inquire. This is when I received a email stating that the quilts are in production! A quick search told me that I had been scammed.

When I emailed them it said they would respond within 24 hours which they never did. I paid $54.90 which went to PayPal 402-935-7733 CA.

My husband saw these advertised on Facebook. I was suspicious, but looked up the website and it seemed legitimate, so I proceeded to order 5 quilts on Black Friday. Their site says it takes 10 days to process. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and was patient. On December 10 I received notification that the quilts were finished and on their way. The email further went on to say that I would receive a tracking number the following day. Needless to say, I never received a tracking number or the quilts. When I tried to go back to the website, it says that they are closed for the holidays to process the many orders they have received. There is no phone number anywhere to be found. This is a complete scam!

Placed order through FaceBook ad for a quilt with Amelia Quilt on 11/26/18. Immediate payment was charged and posted to my credit card. (I did use PayPal to process the payment). Received an email on 12/10/18 that my quilt was completed and ready for shipment. The email stated I would be provided with a tracking number once the courier picked up and my shipment was on the way. I heard nothing else from them. I emailed on 12/16/18 to inquire about my shipment. I received an automated response that my request had been received and would be reviewed within 24 hours. I heard nothing else. I emailed again on 12/19/18 to demand a tracking number. I also looked for their Facebook page, and found many, many others who had the same experience, and that Amelia Quilt is a SCAM. I made two quilt orders from Amelia Quilt (Dec. 3, 2018 and Dec. 4, 2018) after my mom saw an ad for them on Facebook. They ran my credit card as soon as I made the orders. Dec. 10 I received an email saying my quilt was done and ready to ship. On Dec. 13 I emailed Amelia Quilt since the email I received on the 10th only said quilt and I wanted to check the status of both of my orders. To that email I got a non-answer reply, saying they are working on it and to wait. It’s now Dec. 19 and I still haven’t gotten an email regarding my quilts being shipped, so I googled the company. From everything I’m reading, I have been scammed and I won’t receive my quilts, and if I do they won’t be of the quality that the site indicated that they would be.

Ordered 2 quilts one month ago. Got confirmation that order was being processed. Payment cleared my account. Their email stated that the quilt would take 5-7 working days. I sent an email with an inquiry, but never received a response. I finally got an email stating it was shipped by DHL 11 days ago. Then the USPS would receive it and ship it. Two problems: only one quilt was listed as sent and the package weight does not correspond to a queen size quilt (only 1.6 pounds versus approx. 6 lbs for a queen size quilt). I assuming that it wasn’t a quilt that was sent and since it still hasn’t reached the USPS after this long, that I won’t get it at all. No word on the second quilt I ordered at the same time. I responded to a ad I saw on Facebook about a company that was making quilts. I picked out the quilt I liked and using Pay Pal I ordered a queen quilt to be delivered in time for Christmas. I ordered it mid-November and had followed up with two emails asking about shipment date, etc. and never received a response. I was going to contact them again today as I had become increasingly concerned about the validity of my order and of course using a personal credit card had gotten me concerned when I had not received a response from the business. The scammer had lots of "one of a kind" quilts saying they were homemade and of course unique so it might take longer to receive your order but they’d be worth it. They totally sucked me in!! I never received anything! It seems to me like they put alot of effort into the marketing as they had many photos of the quilts you could order, people in photos working on them and holding them up to view, etc. The scammers put alot of work into making it look legit!!

I purchased a quilt from Amelia quilts. I did a quick search before buying from them, saw what I now know was a fake page of rather authentic looking positive reviews. Website looked legit, allowed for multiple payment options, and even had a decent return policy. A few days later I started noticing the emails were from different company names. Amelia quilt, Joyce quilt, ECrafta, which was odd. Then the website was down for a really long time. I sent an email inquiring if it would be here on time and got an email back that didn’t answer the question at all. Sent another asking again, also got a response that had nothing to do with what I asked. I looked on line again for reviews of the company and this time it was flooded with reports against this company about it being a total scam. I’ve sent 3 emails asking to stop the order and refund the money just to see what would happen. Sure enough I get the same generated email about how it’s a handmade item and that takes time and they appreciate my patience. I’ve lied a complaint with the federal trade commission and with PayPal. I ordered this quilt online on Nov 21St and it’s now Dec 10th and I have not received my order. They said 2 weeks. They sent me a confirmation of my order and that was it. I haven’t got no email since about processing or anything and the money was taking out of my checking.

Ordered 3 quilts from this company three weeks ago and they promised delivery in 7 to 10 days. Over 2 weeks later I still had not received the items and attempted to reach them through their "Contact Us" link on their website. I’ve sent 4 e-mails now and just get an automated response back each time. I decided to Google "complaints on Amelia Quilt" and came across the ScamPulse.com website which showed the alert regarding this company. There were several other complaints here and I realized that I had been scammed.

Since I paid through PayPal with a credit card I have disputed the amount they’ve charged me, so hopefully I’ll get my money back. I saw a complaint where one poor person paid with a debit card, and they probably won’t get their money back. Amazingly this scammer still has a live website taking orders. I think they just got a bit too greedy and are trying to rake as much money in as they can before Christmas, and probably their greed will be their downfall. It’s a shame that there are awful people out there that do this kind of thing. Who would have thought you’d get scammed buying quilts, for goodness sake.

I was a victim of online fraud by Amelia Quilt on Facebook November 27,2018.. I paid for a quilt through Paypal and was given a process time of 7 days.. then I received emails every day to attempt to get more money with discount coupons.. when the 7 days came no order or e-mail was received about shipment. The original order page was gone.. a blank page was all there was.. so I knew I had been taken by a fake website.. I reported them to Facebook & Paypal.. I filed with the Federal Consumer Complaint Commision and posted on various Facebook sites where they are still running ads..This is a Fake Company & need to be shut down & prosecuted.
