I was contacted via text message on 09/11/17 at 10:55 am by a man who identified himself as Mr. Daniel Lucas from Amcor Company. The message stated "Hello Good Morning Dionne Winn…I’m Mr Daniel Lucas from AMCOR Company…Your resume have been reviewed and posted to our head department. I think you will be a good fit for the Position applied for. Please reply back if interested."

I responded to the text and was told "Alright…The company interview will be conducted Online as you have been selected for an Online interview..Do you have a google Hangout ID ?"

I was told to create on and to have "Mr Brandon Curry added on [email protected]"

I did as was told and on Google Hangouts I conversed with the said Mr Brandon Curry.

I was told by Curry eventually after answering questions that I was now an employee of the company and that I would be working from home. I was told to expect a check that is to come in the mail some time tomorrow (09/15/17) in order to purchase equipment that would be needed to work from home.

I asked about being provided an offer letter and was told that I would receive it on 09/15/17 along with a work computer. The majority of the conversation was conducted via Google Hangouts with the exception of having to complete a task through Curry’s email address at [email protected]

Total money lost $3,500

Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order

I had applied for an office job through zip recruiter to a company called Amcor. I was the emailed sayin I had an interview via google hangouts. They explained the position and informed me that a check would be sent to purchase equipment as I was to work from home. The woman advised me to send a deposit slip to them once the check was deposited. The next business day funds were made available and the woman instructed my to take out $3,500 from my PNC bank account and transfer if to a local vender via Bank of America. From there the bank informed me my account was on hold so the check could go through further verification; however, at this point money had already been posted and withdrawn. I am now being told by the bank this check was counterfeit and that I will be responsible for paying this back. I am a student and was just trying to find a job for extra money and am now in the hole. Please assist in any way possible.

I received an email regarding a job interview from a company I have not applied to. The interview was conducted via WhatsUp app. I received an email telling me when the interview was, and gave me an email address. ( I still have the email, and conversation saved) When asked about my bank, I refused to answer. The reason I was asked was to make sure they offered direct deposit. I still refused. They promised they would send me a check to pay for the equipment I would use to purchase the computer and software.
