Type of a scam Online Purchase

we looked online for a Samoyed puppy. the website came up and there was a chat service linked on the website where we could talk to the "breeder" we inquired about a puppy and they asked several questions about what kind of puppy parent that we would be ect. They then gave us an account and routing number that we can deposit the money for the dog into their checking account. We did. according to the website it was going to take 2 days to get the puppy. we kept in constant contact with them via text or chat. Finally they emailed us and said that the delivery arrangements were made. we checked our email and it was a "a delivery service" called Omaha Express Delivery wanting us to wire them $960 dollars that we would get back when we picked the dog up at the airport. We immediately called the "breeder" and questioned it and they said that they didn’t have time for this and to just pay the delivery service. We called the delivery service and they didn’t answer with the business name and refused to give us a website to look the company up. We requested our money back from the breeder and they said they spent it all on the shipping and paperwork and are still going to have to pay the courier service. the next day the puppy that we wanted a long with two others that were "bought" were put back on the website and the price went up.
