Type of a scam Online Purchase
I attempted to purchase a pug puppy from Alex Kay after seeing them on her website as I did search for pug puppies. She contacted me and we began texting about me buying one named Sean. Alex wanted me to use Zelle to pay her which I did for puppy and transportation costs it came to $650. She was using Airpetmovers to transport the puppy. I began receiving calls from a Robert Gibons with Email labeled Pet Transport. He informed me that I needed to purchase a pet carrier to accommodate the flight that had adequate air conditioning and also buy pet insurance for Sean. He told me that it would cost $1250 and it would be refundable after delivery since crate would be returned. It sounded a bit concerning so I contacted the breeder who told me that it was related to new covid 19 procedures and it would be refunded as Gibons had indicated. I recontacted Air Transport and was told to send the $1250 by Western Union or through Walmart Money Services. I unfortunately followed this direction. I was recontacted and told puppy was on his way to Salt Lake City and then to airplane to our home airport. I received another call from Pet Transport telling me that they needed another $950 because of vet looked at puppy and needed to medicate for flight from Salt Lake to us. I then knew I had been scammed. I refused and told him to contact the breeder Alex. I decided to call her to inquire about all this situation and when I called Gibons guy from Air Transport answered. Now I knew I was scammed for sure. The breeder continued to text me about sending the money for vet. I refused and told her I was already $2000 out and he needed to contact Pet Transport. I called the ScamPulse.com and reported my incident. I consider myself to be an honest man and I really felt like this lead to my downfall in this situation.
