Acting as Windows Technical Support

Type of a scam Tech Support

Received a call at our house phone, caller ID showed a California number. Guy claims to be Windows Tech Support and starts asking about computers. I’ve answered a similar call before, and knew not to do exactly as he asked without verification. At first, I lied and said I have several computers and asked which one he’s looking for. He said "the oldest one". I said it’ll take a while for the oldest one to turn on! He didn’t catch onto what I meant, but went on to say "the one running windows 10". I said the oldest one doesn’t run windows 10, but he didn’t seem to understand. I started stalling by saying I had a husband who works tech support, I’ll just have him fix it! Then when he still tried to proceed, I said, "ok I’ll open my computer. Do you mind if I look your business up first?" He gave me the name Windows Technical Support and a number in Brooklyn. I searched the name on ScamPulse.com and googled the number, neither showed what he was telling me. He was getting angry that I wouldn’t do what he asked. I said, I can’t verify your business. "Ma’am, we are not registered as a business. Can you please look at your computer for me?" I said no and we ended the call.
