On October 22, 2018, I was approached by Peter, of Able Tree Service, while mowing my yard. He pointed out a large dead limb in one of my trees and we proceeded to discuss getting both of my trees trimmed. He gave me a bid, which I accepted. He stated he only accepts cash (that was the red flag I ignored) and a receipt would be left when the job was completed He also stated he does business on a handshake, which we did.
On October 24th Peter trimmed one of my trees, telling me he’d be back tomorrow to get the wood piles but could I pay him. Like a fool I did. He returned the following day and trimmed the other tree, stating once again he’d be back the following day to remove the wood piles. And again, like a fool, I believed him and paid him for trimming the 2nd tree.
Despite my daily phone calls to him he has never returned to complete the job and I don’t believe he ever will. And surprise, no receipt was ever received.
