The scammer called our house claiming to be in our area the next day. Do we want to have our furnace and ducts cleaned. It was half price 125 from 250. I told him to call back. I wanted to discuss this with my husband. He called back and we agreed on a time. Upon arrival the next day three men show up in a truck. No business name sketchy looking guys. They were dressed in dirty street clothes and smelled. One guys vacuumed the vents with a back pack style canister vac. One guy "cleaned " the furnace. The air intake vents did not get cleaned the ducting was not scrubbed with the rotating brush. No negative air pressure to really clean anything. I could have done a better job with my shop vac. As they pulled out of the driveway hair rust and dust was blowing out of the vents. We ended up paying 185.00 cash. He ducted the taxes because we paid cash. He is also charging 12% tax on a service. I thought is should just be the gst?? We also paid a extra 60 dollars to deodorize because we had "beetles" in our duct work? Again I didn’t see him do anything else additionally to charge another 60 bucks? Additionally we did our homework after the fact to find out there is a criminal file with rcmp including charging an elderly lady 1500.00 to clean a carpet and do her vents. Online scamming selling stamps he never had. We called a reputable furnace cleaning company to get a quote and details of the job. It would have been the same price to have someone come in and do it properly with the correct equipment. People do not let this criminal into your homes!!!
