Hello,

Thank you for your interest in my apartment, it is still available. I
will try to give you as many details as I can regarding the apartment
in the following email.

The full address of the apartment is 1741 Colby Ave, Los Angeles,
CA 90025. Everything is just like in the pictures, fully equipped with
all the appliances you need, very clean and well kept. The apartment
can be rented furnished or if you want you can use your furniture and
deposit mine in the storage unit. I work as an civil engineer and the
company I work for has developed projects all around the world. Now, I
have received an very good offer from them to move to the United
Kingdom department, offer that I have accepted.

The apartment is vacant so you can move-in anytime you want, also my
contract in UK is for the next 6 years, so for this period, I will not
return 100%.

The rent of 1000$/month is for the whole apartment and includes all
the utilities: heat, water, electricity, parking, laundry in-suite,
washer and dryer also included, cable and internet. You will have full
access to all building amenities. Just in case repairs are needed
there, I will cover the costs, so no worries. The price I’m asking is
below the market because I want to find a responsible tenant to take
good care of the place.

I’m the owner of the apartment, it’s already paid in full and there is
no mortgage on it. You have everything you need near-by (public
transportation, schools, groceries etc.). Also I love pets, so if you
have any pets, I won’t have any problem, pets are allowed. Honestly
from point of view I’m sure that You’ll love it for sure and rent it
on spot.

I would like to know how many people will live in the apartment and
also how long do you intend to rent the apartment for?

Please let me know if you are really interested in the place so we can
discuss further.

Thank you and look forward hearing from you!
Michael

PS: I attached you all the pictures that I have with the apartment (as
you can see everything is in absolutely perfect condition).

Will you be putting the property of FlipKey soon?

Hello,

The company I work for moved me to the United Kingdom, and unfortunately there is a problem showing you the apartment because I have already left. The reason I haven’t managed to rent the apartment before I had to leave for the United Kingdom is that someone said that they will rent the apartment and haven’t managed to keep the promise. I waited for him, but unfortunately, he didn’t manage to get the money on time, so the transaction failed and I had to leave before managing to rent it. Obviously, this brought me huge inconvenience. So I can tell that I have a bitter experience making a reservation, it’s the first time I’m renting an apartment so I prefer using a worldwide property management company.

The company I am talking about is called FlipKey (www.flipkey. com) their website is mainly focused on short term rentals, but they also have a NEW service for long term rentals. I used this service last month when I rented my apartment in London, United Kingdom, and I can tell you that it was a great experience and the only way I will proceed renting my apartment is by using FlipKey. Look at their website as a reference, but please know that you will not find my apartment there, as I need to initiate the transaction before anything.

Using FlipKey involves three parties: me as the owner, you as a potential tenant and FlipKey as a responsible third party authorized to handle this transaction. FlipKey works the same way as the escrow account on which you place the deposit when you rent an apartment, except that instead of a bank, we use FlipKey. Of course, nobody can take that money until you will inspect the apartment and sign the lease agreement. With this procedure, you will be able to check the apartment before I receive the payment and FlipKey will guarantee your deposit (insurance), also they will handle everything.

Like I said before, I used them to rent my apartment in London and everything was perfect, they are really professional and they have great services. Please keep in mind that the “reward” for proceeding with this “unconventional” transaction is the monthly rent price, which is below the market, exactly for this reason. Also please know that the transaction and the deposit to FlipKey are made only the first time so that you are able to receive the keys and inspect the apartment. After you visit the apartment and sign the lease agreement, you can deposit the monthly payments directly to my bank account, or we can set up a payment method that is suitable for both of us.

FlipKey is a very serious worldwide company, part of the super big TripAdvisor company, in my opinion, they are like Airbnb, but with better services and with this extra service for long term rentals, offering protection for both parties.

My phone number is +44 75206 43911 (UK phone number), I am new at work and I try to avoid speaking on the phone, if I am not able to respond, I will do my best to call you asap.

LET ME KNOW IF YOU ARE STILL INTERESTED IN THE PROCESS, so I can provide all the detailed steps of the transaction (I am sure that many of the questions you have now, will be answered after I will send you the steps).

Thank you and hope to hear from you soon!
Michael

PS: Sorry for the long emails, but I need to explain the situation as best as I can.

Hi again,

I will do my best to be as transparent as possible during the whole transaction, so to build up confidence and gain peace of mind, I have attached a copy of my PASSPORT to this email. Also please know that you will receive official documents from FlipKey also, before depositing them.

Regarding the process, you will have to deposit the first-month rent + last month’s rent, a total of 2000$ (1000+1000) to FlipKey , so they can proceed with the shipping, and you can receive the rental package (keys and documents). Once you receive the keys, you can go and inspect the apartment. Please know that I will pay for all the fees that FlipKey will take. (transaction and shipping fees).

Below I will explain step by step how the transaction with the FlipKey works, to avoid any misunderstanding please READ CAREFULLY THE FOLLOWING STEPS:

1 – To start the process all I need is your contact information: full name, mailing address (street, number, city and postal code), cell phone number, a move-in date and lease agreement preferred (e.g. 6 months or 1-year rental contract with the option of renewal). The lease agreement will be a standard one from the government.

2 – Once I will have your contact information and your approval, I will go to the FlipKey office (UK) to start the transaction and I will give them the apartment keys and necessary documents.

3 – FlipKey will check everything, including the ownership documents, and if everything is in the order they will proceed with the transaction. They will also confirm that I’m the legal owner of the apartment I’m renting to you.

4 – FlipKey will send you a notification (via email) where they will inform you that the keys and the documents are in their custody. Also, they will send you all the steps, how to proceed and all the transaction details.

5 – At this point, you need to send the amount of 2000$(1st-month rent + last month rent) to the FlipKey payments representative (lawyer escrow account) provided to you in the notification. THE PAYMENT NEEDS TO BE SENT WITHIN 24 BUSINESS HOURS AFTER YOU WILL RECEIVE THE TRANSACTION DETAILS OR ELSE THEY WILL CHARGE ME AN ADDITIONAL FEE.

6 – As soon as the payment is completed you need to send the payment details to FlipKey . (a copy of the receipt proving that you sent them the deposit).

7 – FlipKey will verify the payment and if everything is in the order they will start shipping procedures using UPS Next Day Shipping Service.

8 – You will receive the package (keys and documents) and you will have 5 business days (inspection time) to check the place and decide if you want to rent it.

9 – If you decide to rent the apartment you just need to sign the lease agreement that FlipKey sends, email it to them and they will release the funds to me. If after the 5 days inspection you will decide not to rent the apartment, FlipKey will refund the whole deposit.

PLEASE NOTE:

Your deposit is INSURED by FlipKey, this means that if you will not sign the lease agreement for any reason, FlipKey will refund you the whole deposit, so you are 100% protected.
They CANNOT release the funds without your approval, they can do it ONLY after you will send them the lease agreement with your signature. (after the 5 days inspection period).
FlipKey will send you official documents (invoice, rental agreement, and insurance document) BEFORE sending the deposit to them.

From my point of view, everything is safe and the reward for going forward with this process is big. Also, because it’s a SELF-SHOWING process, I find it normal (common sense) that you need to make the deposit first, as a guarantee. I hope you share my opinion because I cannot modify the terms of the transaction in any way, so, PLEASE READ CAREFULLY ALL THE TRANSACTION STEPS.

Let me know if you have the funds available (2000$) so we can move forward. If you do have the funds available and agree with the transaction steps, please email me your full information (full name and address and cell number) so we can get the transaction started.

If you have any further questions regarding the transaction please let me know.

Waiting for your reply!

Thanks

Michael

Received a couple of different phone calls, normally I don’t answer due to not recognzing the phone number. They said that there were payday loans that hadn’t been paid, took out in my name. They stated had my social security number and my husbands social security number. They asked me why my house was in my sister in laws name and my husbands name. I’m not sure how they have that information. They told me that they were a lawyer for CashNet and that the county assessors office would be sent out to my home and take me to court. They said they would settle for $1500. They talked to my husband and told him they would settle for $1000.

I talked to a female to begin with, and when I handed my husband the phone it was a male. We don’t recall the names of either individuals. I talked to two different people, but the voice sounded the same to me.

Received a call on 2/26/20 from 409-489-4525 Jasper Texas telling me he fixed my computer in the past. (I do use Dell tech support). He had a foreign accent (similar to the tech I use at Dell). He said there is a problem with the security on my computer and wanted access to my computer. He did not give his name or company where he worked. I hung up the phone and called Dell tech support on 2/28 and spoke to Jason. He said the call was a scam, then started looking at my computer and said my bank and e-mail were hacked. He even showed a pass word and one of my charge card numbers. He asked several questions regarding my bank and I started to feel uncomfortable even with the Dell Tech.

I changed all my pass words etc. with my bank. Yesterday, 3/3/20 received another call from the above number and my cell phone was also called. How did this person get both my phone numbers? I don’t feel like I have good security with Dell support and their products.

When go to website, has "CompliAssure Secured" logo, but link to verify does not work.

I called the number left (844-831-7451) but blocked my number and get no answer. I blocked my number and called number originated from (515-505-7024) and male picked up and said "Ms. ***?" I replied "excuse me?" and he said "sorry wrong person" and hung up. I called the number back and after few rings got a recording to "leave name and number" but no indication of company. Called third time, with number blocked, and female would not identify the company when asked. She asked for MY number, in order to identify "which company had called you." I told her I would not provide my number, because there was no reason for anyone to be contacting me, at which point she got loud and said she had to have the number to answer anything, called me a smart aleck, and hung up on me.

At this point i am not sure who or what I am reporting, but I am NOT *** and will NOT provide my phone number. It has occurred in past (IRS scammer) that I called back using my work but forgot to block the number. They easily googled it and got my name. The harassment and rudeness escalated.

And when I pressed for why I was being called he said he “worked” for several companies and didn’t know which one called me. Asked him for HIS company and he again refused to answer, just wanted to verify my information, which included my full name, phone number and company name. I refused to say anything of my personal info. Told them to take me off the call list & he kept saying the system they had was hard to use and to look me up I had to provide my company name (very adamant about my company info) after several attempts to get me to say this (told him I didn’t own a company, that the company I worked for would never do this, etc etc.) he said he had no idea how he got my number and said he could send out an email to not call me, as if it was a negative thing. “If you don’t provide me the info I can only send out an email” like.. ok?? These people called my father first and told him that my ex husband had filed a judgement against me and I have one hour to call them back. When I called them back the man asked for a case number which I gave him. He then asked for my birthday and when I told him no he told me I have your full name full SSN and your DOB already so you may as well just give it to me. He told me it was a debt for an energy company and the address was an address I’ve never lived at (but my sister did) the company that provides energy in IL is Ameren and you can’t get anything else around here (they have the market all in their court). I told him that when I left my ex husband in 2013 that I paid the final bill for my electric and they were wrong. He told me the bill was totaled almost 2,000 and that I did not answer the letter they sent. I told him I never got a letter and asked if they could resend said letter so I can fight this because I know I paid. Continued to threaten to sue me and put leans on me so that I couldn’t do anything to refinance a house or car and if I did they would get their money first ect. I finally hung up on him after he told me I had till today to get back with them or they would file suite.

I received a phone call with an automated female voice informing lower than 6% rates on a credit card I was accepted for. I knew this was a scam straight away, but I wanted to have my number removed from their system. I pressed 9 as requested and kindly asked my petition. The gentleman with a thick middle eastern accent proceeded to berate, harrass, swear, and insult in any manner he could. I remained calm and cordial, asking to have my number removed from records. He informed me that the call was charging me $4 a minute, though his math was off when he described how much he had made from me already. I doubt it. I noticed his reluctance to hang up so I figured I’d run some missing persons past him in case he hears anything and could help, not that it sounded like he wanted to. Immediately he confessed to shooting and killing one individual just last night. I have contacted the sheriff’s office and informed them of his actions.

Type of a scam Employment

My wife received a phone call this morning from a caller claiming he was a job recruiter. My wife had attended the Alabama Job Link Job Fair last week so immediately assumed this was a legitimate caller. The caller asked her the type of work she was interested in and what her salary requirements were. She responded to these questions and the caller stated that he had positions available and would ask her some more questions.

The first question he asked was "Are you a US Citizen?" Her response was "No", as she is not a citizen. He again asked her the same question "Are you a US Citizen?" and she replied "No, I’m a legal permanent resident with a work permit". The caller then abruptly ended the call saying "we don’t have any openings for you" and hung up.

As this is a violation of the EEOC laws, I tried calling the number on the caller ID and received a recording stating "Thank you for calling customer service." The message didn’t identify the company and said to e-mail questions to [email protected]

This appears to be a variant of the "Can you hear me?" scam. I’m informing the BBC as the number is a N. Alabama number (Boaz) and the questions are coinciding with the recent Job Fair held last week.

She didn’t identify herself or the company she was with, only mentioned "a resort I’ve stayed at before" and immediately launched into a long speel about a free resort stay or cruise with no room for interjection.

The idea of this phone scam is aimed at getting people who answer the call to say the word "yes." Once they have a recording on file of your voice saying "yes," scammers can then use it to authorize unwanted charges on bills, credit cards and more.

"You say ‘yes,’ it gets recorded and they say that you have agreed to something," Susan Grant, director of consumer protection for the Consumer Federation of America, told CBS News.

The caller may also ask you to press a button to be placed on the "do not call" registry, which is just a way for the crooks to find out if the number they called is active.

The caller says they are with customer support. They offer a free trip to Disney World and free food vouchers. They ask you if you have a credit card. I believe they are looking for you to say the word "yes". When I inadvertently said it after I told them I was not interested, they said I didn’t qualify and they hung up. It is possible they were just looking to get me to say the word "yes" to use to sign me up for a service I have not ordered.

Type of a scam Sweepstakes/Lottery/Prizes

I was called from 718-878-6184 by an Officer Rios, telling me I had won $750,000, , did not give me a name of the place I won the money from. He wanted me to give him a credit card or debit card number so I could pay 1% (2,500.00) so the prize would be delivered to me. He gave me a password 060179132015 and I was to call J. Hernandez at 202-905-2253 give the password and provide the payment information ( card number). I called the number and told them I did not have 2,500.00 to pay, he then hung up. I believe this was a scam and will not answer if they call back.

Type of a scam Advance Fee Loan

I received 2 automated phone calls on September 28th, 2016. One at 1:13 PM and another at 3:46 PM. They said that I have potentially 4 or more potential charges against me based off of an error on my tax return. It then went on to tell me that I have only 24 hours to call 202-241-0604 or else police will be sent to arrest me and put me in jail for federal tax crimes. I never called the number because it was obviously a scam for a plethora of reasons. But it surely cannot be legal make up potential charges and claim a person will be arrested if they do not call a certain number and use their service.

Type of a scam Phishing

I received a call on my cell phone this morning from 417-233-5224. They claimed to be a third party security firm. They told me that there have been a lot of false calls on peoples alarms in my area. They them wanted to know if I rented or owned my home. I told them that my security system worked great and what was the name of their company. When I asked that they told me quickly that they had to go and hung up the phone. I did a reverse look up and found that this was a home phone in Republic MO. I have called my local sheriff’s office and reported it.

Type of a scam Other

I received a "Notice of Reward" post card with no return address on the card. I called the number given on the card 18777998752, I spoke to a representative named Amanda Garcia. She explained it was a savings packet for Target or Walmart but wanted me to cover the S&H cost of the packet which was the amount of $2.95 prepaid with a credit or debit card. I have attached a picture of the post card. They didn’t even have my name spelled correctly.

The Claim # 035059262 which I imagine is the same on all the post cards. I investigated through the internet and found one similar from 2014 the phone number was different.

When voicemail is left, all state that the "IRS is filing lawsuit against you" and to "call immediately on our department number". We did not answer any calls, since the IRS has better means to contact us.
